Captain Marvel, Protector of the Universe (VII):The Avengers earth's mightiest heroes: 459. Mar-vell vs The Kree Sentry

In the 15th episode of "The Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes", 459 Captain Mar-Vell appears (and Carol Danvers and the kree sentry), but with the appearance-look of his Ultimate version (Mahr Vehl) and more or less his powers (though their behavior is more similar to that of Mar-Vell).

So it seems that his appearance is more than anything to bring the rest of the Kree in the second season and give Carol the powers of Ms. Marvel. I doubt that he will be transformed and get the Cosmic awareness.

Furthermore, last Sunday it was aired his second appearance in this TV series, with Yon-Rogg and Ronan (and a lot of Kree soldiers), more or less adapting Fantastic Four 65 with the Avengers instead of F4.

Captain Marvel, Protector of the Universe (VI.5): Ultimate Mahr Vehl vs Reed Richards (Ultimate Extinction, Ultimate Mystery & Ultimate Doom)

This section will go in chronological order but this week I'm jumping a bit to talk about the adaptations of the battle between Mar-Vell and the Kree Sentry. Once I finish with Mar-Vell, and before moving to Genis-Vell, I talk about his alternative versions (Earth X, Universe X and Paradise X, The Thanos imperative, mangaverse, etc). One of them is the Ultimate universe, and as I have talked about Ultimate Secret I think it's better to end with the character the same day.

Just after Ultimate Secret, Mahr Vehl comes as a minor character in Ultimate Extinction by Warren Ellis and Brandon Peterson. Finally,  this crossover has  the three main groups of the Ultimate Universe: X-Men, Ultimates and Fantastic four. So in the end they manage to create the ultimate version of a Nullifier and dissuade Gah Lak Tus attack on Earth (in this universe is an entity formed by a swarm of intelligent ships that form a kind of hive). They also face one of the Ultimate versions of the Silver Surfer (there is another in Ultimate Fantastic Four) and a few clones of Moondragon. Mahr Vehl assists in technology issues and fights with Iron Man a Silver Surfer and with Sam the "Moon Dragons".

In this other trilogy (three parts by BM Bendis and Rafa Sandoval). In these three miniseries (more or less) Bendis uses all the characters that have lost their own comic (Ultimatum did it, Fantastic Four) or the ones who had not been used lately (Rick Jones, Spider-woman, Mahr Vehl, Fury, etc.) and Reed Richards becomes the new super villain of the Ultimate universe.

I will talk about to Ultimate Mystery, but to summarize in Ultimate Enemy Reed Richards disappear and the heroes are attacked by strange aliens. Also Ben Grimm declares his love for Sue. It looks that Ben is going to die but he apparently was in some state of "
cocoon" before developing his powers, which are basically the same but without the rocks.
Rick Jones y el Capitán Marvel
In Ultimate Mystery Mahr Vehl is sent to protect the Pegasus Project (the facilities where Shield keeps all the things of extraterrestrial, magical or indeterminate origin) where he meets Wendell Vaughn (Quasar in the 616). Shortly after Rick Jones appears there (in this universe the Watchers gave him powers and he calls himself Nova, although it is good to see these old fellows in this universe together even without the nega-bands), the Watchers said that he had to go there to avoid the destruction. Mahr Vehl says that he is the official protector of Earth for the collective diplomatic kree (Since when?) and he is also there to protect the facilities, but just as he is talking to Rick is talking he is infected and he is transformed into a huge and wild beast and attacks Rick and the Fantastic Four (well "Three").

Finally, after the battle Mahr Vehl is interrogated and he tells them that he had been infected and he did not control his actions, shortly after Sue discovers that Reed Richards is behind all these actions.

Ultimate Doom.-

Mainly in this last part they all face and defeat Reed Richards (at the end also help the Ultimates and Doctor Octopus).

Ultimate Captain Marvel.-
I doubt that the character will evolve and develop further, and I doubt even more that he will be transformed or have the red and blue suit (and I guess that it will be impossible to see the cosmic awareness or to see him as protector of the universe). In addition, some of his main villains were used in Ultimate Fantastic Four and I doubt that he will face his nemesis of the 616: Thanos (and Ronan the Accuser is not even a Kree in this universe). However there are still a Kree Supreme Intelligence, but I do not think that the cosmic themes will be explored in this universe.

Captain Marvel, Protector of the Universe (VI): Ultimate Secret, Captain Mahr Vehl vs the Ultimate Kree Sentry

The Ultimate Universe of Marvel Comics also has his own Captain Marvel but with a few differences with his counterpart of the 616 universe. In this case, Mahr Vehl (instead of Mar-Vell, to give us a more alien name) makes his first appearance in the second part of the trilogy of Gah Lak Your (written by Warren Ellis): Ultimate Secret (a crossover between the Ultimates and Ultimate Fantastic Four ), drawn by Steve McNiven (1 and 2) and Tom Raney (3 and 4). The first number fits almost entirely the story of Captain Marvel against the Kree Sentry.

This story takes place right after Ultimate Nightmare, a crossover where the Ultimates and Ultimate X-men found the Vision, transformed here into a "female" robot, well they also fought against Russian super soldiers. The Vision came to Earth to warn us about the coming of Gah Lak Tus one hundred years ago, but something went wrong with its/her ship and it ended up in Russia.

The Ultimate Secret story begins in a space base of Shield in New Mexico, where Dr. Philip Lawson (Philip instead of Walter Lawson), who we actually know is really Mahr Vehl, is one of the leaders of a new propulsion system that will allow humanity to travel through the universe at almost the speed of light. Asis, the first ship that is going to use this new system is going to be tested but something happens, the base is attacked by a Kree Sentry sent by Yahn Rgg (Ultimate version of Yon Rogg), who has altered the mission and will not let that humanity to have a way to escape from Earth in case of Gah Lak Tus coming. Therefore Mahr Vehl does its best to defeat the "Robot" but ends up unconscious after the battle. Shortly after Shield caught him up and he is interrogated by Carol Danvers (who is the head of security in the base, like in the 616 universe) and Nick Fury. He confesses his real name: Mahr Vehl Halason Geheneris Pluskomander, officer of the Kree starfleet, more or less a Captain in the human range. He has been as an observer, for this mission he had a surgery to seem human (in this version Krees are not as humanoid as in the 616, although they are still led by the Supreme Intelligence). He disobeyed the order to destroy any possibility of way to leave the planet and just observe their dead before Gah Lak Tus.

The Kress know more about Gah Lak Tus, but this information is only given to the most higher officers who are specially trained for this (if anyone knew what Gah Lak Tus really is, he/she could go insane). Since the Captain of Mahr Vehl's ships knew it, Yahn Rgg, he changed and now he wants humans trapped on Earth. Instead Mahr Vehl, who has fallen in love with the planet and its culture, has done everything possible to save humanity by speeding up the space project. To get information from the Kress, the heroes prepare a plan and are divided into two groups, one to distract the Kress (with Black Widow, Thor, The Thing and the Human Torch) and one that will be travel in the second Asis ship to "steal" information of Gah Lak Tus (with Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Reed and Sue).

In the Kree ship they face several Krees, when they are discovered by Yahn Rgg, he makes Mahr Vehl to return to its original form. Mahr Vehl manages to steal the data of Gah Lak Tus and escape just before the ship self-destruct itself.

As a fact on this Ultimate Universe, Captain Marvelis a family member of the Halason, for the Kree religion,  they are the chosen of God, but they actually designed ships (in this case as the father of Captain Marvel in the 616 Universe) and Sentries. According to Mahr Vehl Hala was just a Kree who taught others to save the lives of the innocent. Therefore he is not a "pink" Kree discriminated (indeed, I'm not sure that it is blue-green Kree due to his surgery to look human or in this case is that he's one of the blue Kress, which would not surprise me because in this Universe he is of high social scale).

¿Cómo debieron terminar Iron man, Thor y Capitán América?

How it should have ended, HISHE).
A few months ago I saw some videos where in the end we could see Batman and Superman talking in a cafe, a days days ago a friend showed me some more on youtube and these are videos of "How it should have ended ..." (HISHE). In two days we will be able to see the Avengers in Spain, so it's a good idea to watch the "HISHE" of Ironman, Thor and Captain America.-

Captain Marvel, Protector of the Universe (V): Captain Marvin in Where Stomps the Scent-ry!

In the magazine of self-parody of Marvel "Not Brand Echh!" It has been published a parody of the first adventures of Mar-Vell vs the Kree Sentry, in this case with "Captain Marvin: Where Stomps the Scent-ry". It was in the 9th issue (May 1968), and the authors were the same of team as in the Captain Marvel comicbooks: Roy Thomas and Gene Colan.

Captain Marvel, Protector of the Universe (IV): Marvel Super-heroes 12-13 & Captain Marvel 1, Mar-Vell vs the Kree Sentry

Marvel Super-heroes 12.-
Diciembre 1967

Stan Lee
Gene Colan
Entintador/Inker.- frank giacoia

The only number written by Stan Lee and where he introduces  the basic plot for the early issues of Captain Marvel. As we know, after the defeat of the kree sentry and Ronan the Accuser, the Kree Empire sent a ship to spy on Earth and decide if they are a threat to the Kree Empire. Mar-Vell will be the Kree spy on Earth and he will  "study"  humanity. It can be seen in this first issue that the captain and the ship's doctor, Una, are in love, but his superior, Colonel Yon-Rogg who also has an interest in Una,  will try to kill Mar-Vell.

In these early numbers Mar-Vell have no super powers, as has Kree soldier he has combat and strategy skills, a superior knowledge in science and technology because of his Kree origin. He also has a number of Kree weapons and a repulsion "minirockets" to fly. Finally, due to the greater gravity of the Kree planets, he will have a superior strength and agility than humans (something like what
John Carter experienceon Mars). As a weaknesses in these early issues, he can not breathe without his helmet unless he takes a potion every hour.

He arrives to an area close to an american missile base. As tests are being done, Mar-Vell must escape from the security and find a hotel to wait before he makes his next move.

Stan Lee has left and Roy Thomas is the one entrusted to develop the character in his second appearance in Marvel Super-Heroes. After modifying his weapons to incorporate them into his suit and increase the power, Mar-Vell is preparing to return to the spy ship to get more breathing potion, but Yon-Rogg impulsively tries to kill him with the ship, but fortunately a small plane crosses his path and saves Mar-Vell, and the pilot dies: Walter Lawson, an expert in missile guidance systems and robotics working for the military in the base that we have seen in the previous number. Mar-Vell takes advantage of the situation, and takes over this human civil identity (because of the resemblance between them) to enter in the base of the Cape. Una manages to teleport potion to Marv so the spy begins to work as Walter Lawson in the military base without raising any surprises. A few days later he is sent to a restricted zone to give his advice about robotics, that's where you'll see for the first time the head of security, Carol Danvers, and the Kree Sentry who had supposedly been destroyed with the island (in Fantastic Four 64), but had been self-repairing itself and increasingits size over the last few months. Seeing all this from his ship, Yon-Rogg reactive the Kree Sentry to try to kill Mar-Vell, and the battle begins ...

Mar-Vell tries to stop the Sentry trying to make him obey his orders as Kree Captain, but the sentry is determined to destroy the base according to his orders and destroy anyone who stands against him. After much effort and ingenuity he is able to make a small crack in the robot and introduce a magnetic charge and finally manages to implode the robot from within. All the people of the base treat Mar-Vell like a hero and call him Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel, protector of the Universe (III): The Untold legend of Captain Marvel

Although the miniseries "The Untold Legend of Captain Marvel" was published in 1997 (April to June), it stands chronologically just before the Marvel Super-heroes 12 comicbook, that is to say, the first appearance of Captain Marvel. Therefore it is better to talk about it before.

Escritores/Writers: Tom Brevoort & Mike Kanterovich
Dibujante/Artist: Scott Kolins
Entintador/Inker: John Kalisz

The story begins in the Kree planet Tarsis, at the outer edge of the Large Magellanic Cloud, a planet that is about to be devoured by Galactus (we can also see Silver Surfer). Mar-Vell and a group of soldiers under his command are responsible for bridging the information matrix and take it to the headquarters on Kree-Lar. All goes well until one of his men fell by and also does the matrix while  they are escaping from the planet and Galactus, Mar-Vell jumps without thinking to save ... the soldier, leading to act contrary to the Kree way where prevails fulfill the tasks before saving the life of any other partner. "Luckily", he is sent to the imperial cruiser Pama under the command of Major Pram-Zem. There will be where he first meet Colonel Yon-Rogg and doctor Una, with whom he will become a good friend a something more, and who is quite against the main priorities of the Kree Empire. The Prime Minister Zarek and the Supreme Intelligence give them the order to go in search and rescue mission of Admiral Devros (dead or alive), as last information placed him in one of the most dangerous areas of the universe, it is a suicide mission.

On their journey they encounter a battle between a Shi'ar ship and three Skrulls Ships, Captain insists on helping the Shiar, they are Deathbird and the Imperial Guard
.

The story begins with a flashback of Mar-Vell's childhood when his mother left him in the third school in the Northeast region. Recovered from the battle against the Skrulls, there is a misunderstanding with the Shi'ar  Imperial Guard and Mar-Vell defeats them. Shortly after we found out that Death Birdt is chasing a Brood ship, and she makes Mar-Vell an offer to join the Elite Guard, but his superiors do not allow it, they suspect that both the Skrulls and the Shiar are also looking for Devros to get the secrets of the Kree Empire. Shortly after they find a planet with Kree technology and remains of the Brood's ship. On the planet they are attacked by the Brood, and when they are about to lose the battle, Devros appears , but unlike what seems, he is not helping the Kree, he is now a hybrid Kree-Brood and wants to infect the rest of the Kree empire. Mar-Vell manages to escape and kill the queen, but only manages to rescue Una.

Mar-Vell and Una are desperate, they are alone against the Brood, however their friendship begins to become love. Mar-Vell has a plan, back to the ship to find a cure for not becoming a Brood (and we discover that his father was a designer of spacecrafts, making him know where to go in the ship), he finds Devros and kills him, although after it he starts to become the new Brood's King, but luckily Una finds a way to heal him. Unfortunately, Colonel Yon-Rogg was still alive and Mar-Vell is determined to save him before they escape using the infirmary of Pama's ship. Weeks later they are rescued by Deathbird.

Weeks later, Mar-Vell and Una are posted in a different ship led by Yon-Rogg , the
Hala ship, whose mission is to infiltrate and study the inhabitants of a planet to see whether they are threat to the Kree Empire or not: Earth.
